9/25/24 - Mom be HATIN’ that bad guy

AUTHOR'S NOTE: ok, this one has a pretty hilarious story behind it. my english teacher wanted each of us to give her a news article so that she could pick one of them for us to write an analysis about. i asked if i could submit an article from The Onion, a satirical news outlet, and she said yes, so I did, not at all expecting to be picked. it turned out that everybody else either submitted their article wrong, submitted something that didn't qualify as an article, or just didn't submit anything, so my satire article about a mom hating a bad guy in a movie got picked by default, meaning everyone in my class had to write a 100+ word analysis of a satire article from 2018. it was also hilarious because it seemed like a lot of people didn't get the satire. like, multiple people just wrote a serious analysis of why Barbara Rosenstock needs to shut up. definitely a highlight of 11th grade for me.

Mom be HATIN’ that bad guy

Satire is a lovely thing. It tends to be a weird yet hilarious blend between sounding completely serious and completely ridiculous. It serves to make fun of it or “expose the stupidity” of something. It tends to be relating to at least somewhat serious subjects, like poking fun at greedy companies like Apple, lazy content “creators” like Sssniperwolf, or even the united states government, but sometimes it's just plain silly, like an article published by satirical news outlet The Onion on October 12th of 2018 titled “Mom Hates Bad Guy In Movie.” Right off the bat, this article nails the tropes of the typical news article you'd see from more credible news sources like CNN with its grammar and stuff. It's pretty incredible how well this parodies more credible news sources like CNN by rambling for a whole paragraph about something that ultimately doesn't matter. I mean, come on! I should join one of those more credible news outlets like CNN, because I know I would write better articles, because I never EVER ramble. Anyways, this article also nails the stereotype of the EVIL 62-year-old stay-at-home mom who wants nothing more than her kids to be totally epicsauce - super evil, because everyone knows you're supposed to raise your kids to be sigmas these days. Anyways, by now you probably realize why this article is such an awesome satire. You're welcome.
